Thank you for submitting a claim to the California State Controller’s Office, Unclaimed Property Division, for the return of your property. The purpose of this letter is to notify you that our office is now initiating the process to have your securities transferred to you. This process will take approximately six to eight weeks and no action is needed from you at this time.
In order for you to get your securities, we must have your securities transferred into an account registered in your name. Depending on the securities, this is done either through a transfer agent (the official responsible for processing the company’s shares) or a mutual fund company. When your securities have been transferred, you should receive a confirmation statement directly from the transfer agent or Mutual Fund Company.
Upon your receipt of the confirmation statement, we recommend that you contact the transfer agent or the mutual fund company to discuss what you would like done with your securities, such as selling them or moving the securities to a broker of your choice. If you do not receive a confirmation statement in the mail after eight weeks from the date of this letter, please contact us at (916) 464-xxxx.
